From his own lifetime, Sri Raghavendra Swamy was known for extraordinary compassion. The devotion of Appannacharya, his disciple, who is said to have completed the Raghavendra Stotra at the very moment of the Guru’s samadhi, is among the best-loved stories of the tradition.

Devotees believe Rayaru promised to remain present in his Brindavana to guide and protect those who seek him. Families keep his image at home, light a lamp on Thursdays, and turn to him in times of difficulty — and pass their experiences of his grace to their children.
