The Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavana at Mantralaya is the spiritual heart of the Madhwa world. Located in Andhra Pradesh on the banks of the sacred Tungabhadra river, it is the place where Rayaru entered Jeeva Samadhi in 1671 and continues to bless devotees.
The Brindavana
At the centre of the temple is the Moola Brindavana — the sacred samadhi of Sri Raghavendra Swamy. Devotees offer their prayers here, perform pradakshina (circumambulation), and experience the deep peace for which Mantralaya is known. The Brindavana is believed to have been consecrated with stone touched by Lord Rama himself in a previous age.
The Sacred Setting
Mantralaya sits on the Tungabhadra, and the river bath (snana) is an important part of many pilgrims’ visit. The town is closely linked to Prahlada, the child-devotee of Lord Narasimha, adding to its spiritual depth.
